Do you accept donations from individuals?

Yes we do; it is donors like you who help us to help so many other people.

What are the benefits to me to be a donor?

It will help people in need and relieve you of the need to find an alternative route for disposing of your equipment.

Does ReCOM charge for its services?

Donors of equipment are not charged.

What equipment can I donate?

ReCOM accepts whole desk top PC systems consisting of a processor, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Notebook computers are also accepted.

All equipment must be clean and in working order.

What are your minimum specifications for donations?

Desk top PCs must be at least a Pentium 4 or Athlon equivalent. MACs cannot be accepted at this time. We accept Notebooks with a minimum specification of a Pentium 3 providing it is in working order. Our aim is to match applicants’ needs against offered donations and it is necessary for us to specify a minimum level in order to achieve this end.

I have an incomplete system can I still donate it to you?

Yes. We will accept a processor without a monitor providing it is a Pentium 4 or higher specification.

What can I do with my lower specification equipment?

You may like to look at www.itforcharities.co.uk, which lists recyclers around the country who provides PC’s to charities, some of whom may take lower specification PCs. Individual items of equipment can also be donated to charity Donate-a-pc.

Can you collect the equipment from my home?

We provide Dell's customers with a courier based service. To find out more look at Dell's UK's recycling web site.

Will I know where my donation is going?

Your PC will be passed to a voluntary organisation that helps disadvantaged people. Many of the projects we support give adults and children "hands-on" use for skills training, education, work experience, independent living etc. There will, of course, be a delay between receiving your equipment and its eventual use. It is not therefore always possible to say exactly where individual donations will be use. Examples of organisations we have helped in the past are in our Where do donations go section.
